Polka is one of the few theatres in the UK dedicated exclusively to children. Based in Wimbledon since 1979, Polka creates world-class theatre to entertain and inspire young audiences. Over 90,000 children visit Polka every year to experience engaging, fun and exciting theatre, often for the first time. We strive to spark the imagination, stir the emotions and fuel a sense of discovery in all children.

Our family-friendly offer
The Adventure Theatre is a cosy performance space and the perfect place to introduce under 5s to live theatre. Children can sit on the carpet to get close to the action, with additional seating available for adults. The Main Stage is our larger theatre, but still intimate enough to ensure everyone feels close to the magic. Expect a range of shows to inspire and entertain; from imaginative new plays to inventive adaptations of popular stories.
We are committed to making Polka accessible to everyone. If you have any access requirements, please let us know when booking. We offer a Fully Integrated Sign Language performances for all of our main house productions. Our Main Theatre is fitted with an induction loop system for hearing aid users. Touch tours of the stage, the set and the actors for groups of visually-impaired visitors are available on request; publicity in large print can be made available; guide dogs are also welcome at the theatre. Polka Theatre has step-free access from street level through its main entrance at the front of the building. Once in, there is step-free access to most parts of the building, including the Adventure Theatre, the café, the playground, the garden, the workshop, and the adapted toilet.
