With the beginning of October around the corner, we are well into the autumn season. Less daylight means more time indoors with the little ones, so we've selected our favourite autumn crafts for kids to keep all the family busy!

Artist Brenda Coyle takes you through this simple idea to create stunning, unique watercolour feathers. Use them to decorate gifts, make bookmarks and to apply to many different crafts. 

Brenda offers weekly classes, so you can join her each week to create some fun, relaxed art using simple art supplies which you may have around the home. Read more about her at-home activities. 

Adult help is needed if doing this with little ones. Use your imagination and start making!

2. October Half Term: Watts at home

Kick start your half term with a visit to Watts Gallery - Artists' Village (Surrey) and pick up one of their new Create Kits.

Create Kits contain everything you need to make a masterpiece! This edition includes activity cards and materials to create art using impressions of nature, inspired by the exhibition Unto This Last: Two Hundred Years of John Ruskin. Use the kit in our beautiful woodlands or at home. Your kit is yours to keep.

3. Creative Explorers

Art and craft activities for children: Creative Explorers

Text: Creative Explorers FREE. By Arts Connected - Staffordshire Libraries. Recommended for ages: 5 - 12 years.

Creative Explorers is a programme of free artist-led activities designed for children and young people to take part and have fun creating, using a variety of new & exciting methods.

They recently launched a new programme with themes linked to this year's Staffordshire History Festival. New activities will be posted each Saturday by 10am until 31 October.

Do you ever look at a building and wonder who lives there? In this lift-the-flap illustration exercise, you can use your imagination to create characters living inside a building, your interior design skills to create their home, and your architect’s intellect to decorate the outside of the building.

it shows you how to think like an interior designer and an architect and, most importantly, how to use your imagination to create something wonderful! It also includes templates if you don't want to draw your own.
