A Fantastic Christmas for Families at South London’s Fairfield Halls
Planning a family trip to the panto this Christmas? The popular theatre genre has always been a hit with families, but the shiny new Fairfield Halls in South London has vowed to go the extra mile this December. After an impressive £42 million renovation the venue has promised to give audiences a truly innovative family show, teaming up with children's theatre specialist's Imagine Theatre.
We're not surprised to see an impressive cast of famous faces including comedian Tim Vine, performer Grace Chapman, and a panto debut from Strictly star Ore Oduba. But what makes Cinderella the pantomime to attend as a family this Christmas? Well, "we pride ourselves on producing strong story-based pantomimes" say the show’s producers. "With the fabulous sets, spectacular costumes and amazing special effects providing a fantastic, festive experience for families."
The set in fact is rather special - it has been specially designed to fit around the Hall's revamped concert hall, making Cinderalla the first of the borough's many pantomime's to be performed in its main space.
Festive fun aside, does Fairfield Halls get the Fantastic for Families seal of approval for a visit with your little ones in tow? We went to check out how the Hall is welcoming families into the new facilities, and found the building bustling with families about to enter that morning's show.
Stripping back the foyer to its original design has made it more open, spacious and welcoming to all ages, while the updated Ashcroft Playhouse now has more seats and wheelchair spaces to welcome families to favourites such as Justin Live, Peppa Pig and Tabby McTat.
The space invites anyone in, and the foyer is home to a fab new series of free events for the local community including lunch-time storytelling concerts for little ones.
Cinderella runs from December 10 - 5 January. Want to check it out for yourself? Follow the links below to see what's on, or to find the perfect Christmas family pantomime near you.
